Jesus told His disciples not to be troubled in their hearts over what they were hearing from Him. He comforted them by telling them that in His Father’s house were many mansions. He was soon leaving them but was going to prepare a special place for them in heaven. Jesus is also preparing a place for all of His followers to reside in heaven with Him for all eternity. He will not forget one of His followers; they are all very special to Him as He loves them dearly. Jesus said that if He went to prepare a place for them, He will certainly come back for them so that they would be together with Him for all eternity. He also told them that they knew where He was going and they also knew the way there.
Jesus’ disciple Thomas spoke up and said to the Lord that they did not know where He was going so how could they know the way to get there?
Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6)
There is only one Way to heaven to be with God. That one and only Way is Jesus Christ and Him alone. Many will seek their way to the Father by trying to do good works, belonging to a certain church, religion, or trying to be good people. They think that if thei r good works outweigh their bad works, they will get to heaven. However, the Bible says that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. It also says that there is none righteous, no not one. Trying to get to heaven by believing in anything or anyone other than Jesus Christ will doom a person to eternal damnation in the lake of fire. I know this is not politically correct in our society and culture to say that, but it is the biblical truth.
This brings us to the fact that Jesus Christ is the Truth. He is the truth of God’s Word. Everything that Jesus has said in the Holy Scriptures is the truth of God. You can rely on it. There is so much lying that goes on regarding life and God. What a great standard bearer for truth that we have in Jesus. He is the personification of all truth.
Jesus is also the Life. In Him exists all life because He is the Creator of all life.
16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. 18 And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence. (Col. 1:16-18)
In Him we have everlasting life.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
No man comes to the Father except through His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. No one can inherit eternal life except by faith in Jesus Christ.
