Any soul who claims to belong to God, but gives oneself over to the lies and delusions of the world or worldly churches, commits spiritual adultery. And this is kind of adultery is infinitely worse than any kind of physical adultery, since it leads the soul into all kinds of sins which kill or destroy other lives, including the worst kinds of physical sexual sins. In a very real way, all elect spirits are the brides of the Creator’s Spirit, God. All elect spirits were made to enter a covenant of love with the one God, to become one with Him, to be the closest and most cherished companions of the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ. And God is a jealous Husband, because He must be, to protect His very weak and infantile bride from being deceived, until that bride matures enough to wisely and effectively use her inherent attributes and fulfill her destiny. And, even after she matures, He still needs to protect her, since she will never grow strong enough to protect herself from Satan. If His bride consorts with the world and its false churches, if she becomes unfaithful to her own loving Husband, if she rejects the headship of her Husband’s wise guidance and protection, Jesus will do something drastic to free her from the lies and deceptions of her seducers. And, if the demons have too strong a hold on His bride’s garment of earthly flesh, so that she destroys the life in everyone and everything she touches, then Jesus will remove her flesh to save her spirit. If His bride has shut down her spirit, so she lives only through her mind of flesh, seeking only to please the world or a false church, she might have committed spiritual adultery in a way that can only be healed by the death of her flesh. And can we begin to comprehend how offensive that kind of spiritual adultery is to Jesus? Can we also see how stupid and senseless it is? So come now, let us reason with Jesus. Let Him waken and teach our elect spirits, so we might repent into truly godly, simple, pure and modest lives, so our hearts might learn to do His just and loving works according to His sovereign will. We must let our spirits repent into a faithful, wise, meaningful, joyful life with our Husband, Christ Jesus. He is able to work this life in us and through us. He is the Author and Perfecter of each elect spirit’s faith in Him and in His words.

Jesus died to bring us forgiveness of our sins too, even forgiveness for spiritual adultery, to pay the penalty for sin, so His utterly holy Spirit may work inside us. And the penalty for both physical and spiritual adultery was the death of the flesh, since both kinds of adultery will often destroy souls. Both physical and spiritual adultery justly deserve the penalty of death, since both cause so much harm and death, and, if left unchecked, both infect the hearts of others through strong temptations, spreading like a plague, if the diseased souls are not quarantined from life. Yet Jesus is well-able to sanctify us, by fulfilling His Law in us through us, by teaching our spirits, “You shall not commit adultery.” Jesus can make us into a faithful people, in spirit and body, faithful to His loving ways.
