Jesus Christ, is the coming King
Rejoice, the Lord God your King will be in your midst. He will bring peace:
Shout for joy, daughter of Zion! Shout in triumph, Israel! Rejoice and triumph with all your heart, Daughter of Jerusalem! The Lord has taken away His judgments against you, He has cleared away your enemies. The King of Israel, the Lord, is in your midst. You will no longer fear disaster.
[Zephaniah 3:14-15]
Rejoice! The Messiah is the coming King! He will bring peace:
“Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O
daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King is coming to you; He is just and having salvation, Lowly and riding on a donkey, A colt, the foal of a donkey. [Zechariah 9:9]
The people rejoice as Jesus arrives in Jerusalem riding on a donkey, fulfilling the prophecy:
The next day a great multitude that had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him, and cried out:
“Hosanna! ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’ The King of Israel!” Then Jesus, when He had found a young donkey, sat on it; as it is written: “Fear not, daughter of Zion; behold, your King is coming sitting on a donkey’s colt.” [John 12:12-14]
Jesus is the prophesied King who would arrive sitting on a donkey:
All this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying: “Tell the daughter of Zion, ‘Behold, your King is coming to you, Lowly, and sitting on a donkey, A colt, the foal of a donkey.’ ” [Matthew 21:5]
The Wise Men called Jesus the King of the Jews: Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, 2
saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.”
[Matthew 2:1-2]
The King is the Son of the Father, and he judges the people:
Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. [Matthew 25:34]
