CHAPTER 16

Jesus Christ is the One who is holy The Holy One of Israel is our Redeemer, and is God:

For your Maker is your husband, the Lord of hosts is His name, and your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel. He is called the God of the whole earth. [Isaiah 54:5]

The Lord God is the One who is holy: I am the Lord, your Holy One, the Creator of Israel, your King. [Isaiah 43:15]

Jesus Christ is true. There is no unrighteousness in him, therefore he is good:

Jesus answered them and said, “My doctrine is not Mine, but His who sent Me. If anyone wills to do His will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it is from God or whether I speak on My own authority. He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory. But He who seeks the glory of the One who sent Him is true, and no unrighteousness is in Him.

[John 7:16-18]

Jesus Christ was without sin, therefore he is good: For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.[Hebrews 4:15]

Jesus Christ is the One who is holy, therefore he is good:

Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life; 69 and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God.” **

[John 6:68-69, RSV]

** The NKJV tranlsates this as, the Christ, Son of the Living God, but the footnote cites the literal translation, Holy One of God.

If Jesus is good, he must be God, for only God is good:

So Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God.

[Luke 18:19]

So He said to him, “Why do you call Me good?

No one is good but One, that is, God.”

[Matthew 19:17a]
