Legalizing Marijuana
More and more am hearing on the news about states legalizing marijuana. Two states Colorado, and Washington, has already legalized it for recreational use, and Oregon will be able to vote in November for recreational use as well.
Maybe it's just me, but how is it if a drug dealer on the streets is selling marijuana and gets caught, they end up in jail and having to pay a high fine, or they end up in prison. But the state governments can place it on the voting ballot to legalize marijuana, and if people vote and it passes, it's all of sudden becomes legal for the government to allow select shops to sell it, so they can collect taxes on it.
Does it make it any more right that people can go into a pot shop, that the government has approved of by giving the shop owners licenses to sell marijuana to people. Then say a drug dealer selling it on the streets? No. It doesn't make it right rather the government or anyone else says it's ok to sell or use marijuana.
I have heard people say:
Marijuana is an herb and it grows naturally, so it's ok to smoke it. Just because someone calls it an herb and it grows naturally doesn't make it right to roll it up and smoke it. There are many herbs that grows naturally in the woods that are poisonous. I don't see people going around trying to smoke them, because if they did it would kill them. So people shouldn't try to think just because it's an herb, that it's ok to use it to get high.
Why do people buy and use it?
Is it not to get high, or get stoned as some people like to say, or just try to forget their problems, or some kind of guilt that may be eating away at them.
Well I think alot of it has to do with them trying to fill a void up in their life which only Jesus Christ can fill. It wouldn't matter if a person tried using marijuana 16 hours a day 7 days a week, it would never bring that person true peace, forgiveness, comfort, and the love that only comes from God grace, and faith in His Son Jesus Christ (period)
Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
2 Corinthians 1:3 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort….
1 John 4:9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
