Chapter IV.
On Friday, July 4, 2025, Kitty, Christophe and Eric are anxious for the big event; the arrival of Ava, Paul, and Patrick. Christophe made reservations at the La Concha Hotel for five nights; two rooms; as well as a rental car for the three kids to get around in.
From the time they arrive in Key West, until the time they head back their three separate ways on Monday, July 14, 2025.
The catch is, they will travel to Coral Gables, and stay there from the days of Monday, July 7, 2025, and return five days later to Key West, Saturday, July 12, 2025. They will all fly their separate directions on Monday, July 14, 2025.
Eric, Christophe and Kitty eat at Outback Steakhouse before Ava, Paul and Patrick arrive. Kitty has a Filet Wedge Salad, and Eric and Christophe both have the nine ounce Victoria’s filet.
It takes one hour to eat dinner, and ten minutes to drive back to the apartment.
Eric has been in Key West since Sunday, June 13, 2025. He flew down with Kitty and Christophe from Indianapolis International Airport, and will stay the duration of the summer, leading up to the start of his freshman year at the University of Florida, Gainesville.
Eric will be studying Criminal Justice & Law in the fall of 2025.
Christophe, Kitty and Eric arrive home at 7:15 p.m. and wait one hour and thirty minutes to leave for the airport. Ava, Paul and Patrick will be landing soon. “Should we take the Jeep Grand Cherokee to the airport now?” asks Kitty.
“Yes, we better get to the airport. I hope there are no delays or mix-ups in Chicago or Miami,” suggests Christophe.
“If all went as planned, Paul departed Indianapolis at 3:50 p.m. (EST), flew into O’Hare at 4:00 p.m. (CST), departed from Miami at 8:30 p.m. (with a two hour lay-over), and will arrive in Key West at 9:30 p.m.,” states Kitty.
Christophe says, “Make sure that when they come off the American Airlines wing, the kids get all their luggage.” Kitty, Christophe and Eric wait at the American Airlines Gates, for Flight AA #1134.
Eric says to his father, as they wait in the concourse; “How many books have you completed?” Christophe responds, “Ten; I keep myself on a production schedule, and my publisher also gives me production guidelines. It averages out to be roughly one book every six months. This goal is very attainable.”
Christophe and Kitty have to wait only ten minutes before they see Paul. He lands first; therefore Kitty takes him to the American Airlines conveyor to retrieve his luggage, and Avis rental car to pick up their rental car.
Christophe and Eric stay behind to wait for Ava and Patrick. Christophe says, “We are waiting for Ava to arrive from Pittsburgh (PIT), and Patrick to arrive from Raleigh, NC (RDU) at 9:45 p.m.
Ava and Patrick follow Christophe to Avis, where they meet up with Kitty and Paul. Kitty leads Paul to the La Concha hotel, on Duval Street, to check in and drop off their luggage.
Once Christophe checks them in, they agree to drive to the Hog’s Breath Saloon, to eat some late-night appetizers.
Christophe orders the group three baskets of cheese sticks and three plates of popcorn shrimp; he also buys everyone drinks.
Once they are done visiting, Kitty guides Paul back to the La Concha hotel, and they agree to meet back in the morning at 9:00 a.m.
