Chapter V.

On Saturday, July 5, 2025, as planned, all six of them met in the lobby of the La Concha, and have breakfast in the hotel’s upscale dining facility at 9:00 a.m.

Kitty and Christophe eat cantaloupe for breakfast; everyone else eats an orthodox breakfast, such as French toast, eggs and waffles.

This was Ava, Paul and Patrick’s first full day in Key West. Kitty spends the first hour they have together outlining their plans for the day.

In Christophe’s wise foresight, he has planned two days in Key West and five days in Coral Gables. Kitty and Christophe anticipate there is more to venture in Coral Gables than in Key West.

They begin by going back to West Isle Club Apartments for a short tour. Paul and Patrick take Caesar and Chip (the dogs) to Higgs Beach Dog Park.

Eric exclaims, “It is hot down here! Probably one-hundred degrees!” Ava responds, “We are south of Miami, so it is going to be hot, Eric!” Kitty is right behind them.

“Are you guys sure you don’t want to try some strawberry key lime pie, or get a drink somewhere?” asks Kitty. Eric responds, “Sure, a piece of key lime pie sounds great.”

Ava voices that she would also like a piece of key lime pie, as does Kitty.

By this time, all four of them have a bottled water. Christophe pays for the four pieces of pie at Kermit’s Key West Key Lime Shoppe. By that time, it is fast approaching 12:30 p.m. Kitty gets out her cell-phone, and texts both boys to meet them at Sloppy Joe’s Bar.

By the time they get to Sloppy Joe’s, Patrick and Paul have already taken both dogs back to the apartment, locked them up, and made it to Duval Street.

The group of six finds a seat inside Sloppy Joe’s, as it is a busy Saturday afternoon. They put their drink order in first. Paul orders a beer, Patrick and Ava order Cokes, Kitty orders a Strawberry Daiquiri, Eric requests a Sprite, and Christophe orders a Mello Yellow. The waitress, Kelli, promptly brings their drinks back to the table.

Christophe orders a basket of mozzarella sticks and one order of fried calamari before they place their lunch orders.

Kitty orders first; “I would like a House Salad with ranch dressing.” Ava says, “I would also like a House Salad with ranch dressing.” Paul orders a Shrimp Po’ Boy Sandwich.

Eric orders chicken fingers. Patrick relates, “I will have the same.” Christophe says, “I will have the Chicken Po’ Boy Sandwich.”

As they order their cuisine, a gentle zephyr blows through the patio area.
