As you go through this book, you will notice that a huge part of it deals with improving the self, and focusing on life goals or skills. You might be tempted to think, “Can we please skip to the part where we actually discuss dating, please?”

As a kung fu master might have said to a student in days of old: patience, grasshopper! There is a good reason for this.

So many books and advice columns about dating zero in immediately on the process of dating. They neglect to emphasize that dating should be a small part of your overall life plan, and that you should focus more on your dreams rather than dating, as they go hand in hand.

How do they go hand in hand? Here’s how. By focusing on your dreams, and really thinking and envisioning the person you would enjoy spending time with, you start the process of narrowing down what you really want, in your mind first, then

to reality.   Along with knowing what you want in someone else, comes knowing yourself and building your character. And that is what we are going to focus on in this chapter.
