Drinks: Peter’s friend brews beer as a hobby, so he brought a few kegs. And both Peter and Andrea already make their own brewed wine in their basement, so they simply threw open their cellar for the celebration.
Flowers: Peter’s sister grew the flowers for all the bouquets and décor
Music: For the wedding service, a harpist played free of charge. For the rest of the celebration, music was played via plugged-in iPods, using playlists created by friends.
Clothes: Family members helped sew Andrea’s wedding dress (the fabric cost US$250, while Andrea’s corset cost US$200). Peter sewed his own wedding vest, from a US$25 fabric. Both Andrea and Peter made ties for all the groomsmen. As for everyone else, they were told they could wear whatever they wanted for the occasion.
Special Feature: Even this low-budget wedding had a novelty. Instead of the usual bridal bouquet toss, the bride’s bouquet was launched using a homemade trebuchet a friend brought along.
