His smile faded as he said it. “Will you stay with me?”

Those words made me both happy and sad, I wanted to stay so badly but I knew sooner or later I would wake up, and not be with him anymore.

“I’ll stay as long as I can,” I said as I touched his cheek with my hand.

He bent over and kissed me gently, then pulled away but stopped almost immediately so we were still very close. He looked into my eyes and my body started to warm up at an intense speed. Then I remembered. Every time my dreams had stopped had been when we’d started kissing and I started feeling the need for him. I put a hand on his chest, slightly pushing him away and looked down, fighting the urge to grab hold of him and feel his hands all over my body. He looked hurt by my response.

“Peter, don’t you remember what happens when we get too close? We disappear away from each other. I want to be closer to you, I swear I do, but I’d rather spend more time with you. I don’t want to leave you.”

“I don’t want you to leave. We don’t have to get too close, but is it ok if I just put my arm around you? I won’t try any funny business I swear.” He winked cheekily at me and I felt myself melt. He was probably the kind of guy that could get away with murder just by smiling, I thought and giggled a little.

“Yeah, that’s fine, I trust you.”

He put his arm around me and I leaned into his shoulder. I felt protected, it felt like the safest place I had ever been to, because of him. I looked out over the sea, the sun was almost completely down, only the top showing over the horizon, casting beautiful reflecting lights on the water’s surface.
