felt warm from the sun having heated it up. Closer to the mountain wall there was a patch of thick green grass, we walked over to it and sat down. It felt soft and bouncy, almost as if it had grown out of a soft mattress.

Looking out the sun was starting to go down, it felt like it could have been afternoon on an autumn day. The birds were singing the loveliest melodies nearby. Peter was fiddling with something.

“What are you doing?” I asked curiously.

“I’ve got something for you. I made it earlier, before I flew to meet you. See I was thinking of you and I don’t really have anything else here to give to you.” He held out his hand. “It’s just a small thing.” In his palm lay Bluebells all twisted into each other creating a beautiful bracelet.

“Oh Peter, it’s gorgeous! Bluebells are my favorite flower.”

“Here, I’ll tie it round your wrist. It won’t last, I know, but I wanted to say thank you. When I see you, I don’t feel lost or frightened anymore. I don’t really know where I go before and after you’re here, but when I see you, it all makes sense you know.”

I felt myself tear up. It was the sort of present you might get from a little girl who was good at making things with flowers, but the gesture behind it was so meaningful. And the fact that he’d picked Bluebells.

“Peter, I love it. Thank you.” I put my hand on the side of his face and kissed him gently on the mouth. I admired my flower bracelet for a while and we sat enjoying the view in silence. It never felt odd being silent with Peter. It was like sitting with someone I’d known for a very long time, like an old friend.

I felt his gaze on me.
