“Omg Alex, I had the best time with him. Did you know that Chris has surfed in Australia?”

Of course I knew that, but I was also betting that he was slightly exaggerating a little. He took one lesson once a few years back with a few friends on holiday. Knowing Chris, he probably made it sound like he was some kind of pro. But it sounded good I suppose. Lisa continued; “And he works at a bank, so I mean, he must be reliable and stuff right?

Oh God, I thought, here we go. If only she knew he was looking for a quick way out of that hell hole. I put my hands over my eyes, dragging them down over my face.

“What?” Lisa said as she saw my expression. “Nothing, nothing. Chris is a great guy. I wouldn’t be

friends with him if he wasn’t. But Lisa, try to just have fun and don’t go thinking he’s the best guy ever, not that he’s not a good guy…but he is a guy.” I bit my lip in thought. “But one thing’s for sure, Chris is fun! You should definitely enjoy being with him, and who knows, maybe he’s the guy for you. I reckon you’d be great together.”

A total roller coaster…but still. I thought and smiled to myself whilst looking down at my colourful hands. She smiled with her whole face.

“Oh Alex, you really think so. We’ve been texting yesterday and today. I think he might come over later, is that cool?”

“Of course! As long as you guys don’t forget about me,” I said popping my lower lip out, trying to look like a sad puppy.

“Like never ever ever!” she said gesturing her hands
