Chapter 21

 

A Monday Compliment

 

I hadn’t slept well after waking up that night. My mind going at full speed with thoughts. The dream had been scarier, darker and more harsh than the others, and then he had disappeared again. Maybe I had been spoilt with dreams filled with beautiful landscapes, calmness, warmth and Peter being present. Maybe my time was up, like pass the parcel, it was someone else’s turn.

I had been fighting off the tears as I had woken up, feeling tired and upset. I had no desire to go get up and get ready for work, but I just had to get through the day so I could come home and lock myself in my bedroom again. I got up and dragged my feet to the bathroom. I sighed as I looked in the mirror above the sink and saw dark circles under my eyes and messy hair that looked as if I hadn’t brushed it in a week. I put the tap on, letting it run warm, then I filled my hands with water and splashed it on my
