I walked in the pub and saw Dave waving at me from a table in the middle of the large room. It was filled with other people out on their lunch break. The pub was cosy looking with dark wooden chairs and tables and a long bar. It looked well looked after and fresh.

I wandered over as Dave got up and greeted me with a hug.

“Great to see you, how are you?” he said as he waited for me to sit before he sat down again, like a proper gentleman.

“I’m good thanks. Nice to get a break from work, although I love my job.”

“Good to hear. I got the menus for us already and wasn’t sure what you wanted to drink so I thought I’d wait with the order until you got here.”

“Thanks, think I’ll just have sparkling water actually.”

I looked at the menu. I was quite hungry and decided on a BLT. Dave ordered a fish and chips and a sparkling water.

We chatted about our day a bit and what it was like for him at work whilst we waited on our food. I told him about my flatmate and Mr Tattoos and he laughed. Then we changed the subject to the big Edinburgh festival.

“It’s especially great living in Edinburgh during the Fringe festival, isn’t it?” He sat leaning forward and had that charm about him that caught your attention. The band was probably really lucky to have him as a manager. He could probably make you want to buy an old sock if he wanted to, I thought and smiled to myself.

“Yeah.” I nodded in agreement. “I love the festival.” The Fringe Festival had ended a month ago with a big fireworks display. It was my favorite time of year in this city, it really came alive. People from all around the world
