“He wasn’t a drug addict, he just liked to party a lot, that’s all.” I said feeling annoyed.

“Kirsty, I think our daughter can decide for herself if a man is good enough,” my dad said and winked at me with a smile.

“Let’s get going and not distract Alex from her work any longer.” He bent forward to give me a kiss on the cheek. “See you soon love, be safe.”

My dad had a way of distracting my mum whenever she started to annoy me. She only cared really but still… He took my mum’s hand lovingly and kissed it, then started to take a step back leading my mum away, who also bent quickly toward me and gave me a quick kiss on the cheek.

“Be safe!”

I waved them good bye as Christine came out of the other room with her glasses half down her nose.

“Who was that?”

“My mum and dad, they were just wondering if I’d like to have lunch with them.”

“Oh, well couldn’t they call?” she said as she turned on her heal not even waiting for my answer. Oh well, her happy mood from earlier seemed to have passed.

It got close to twelve noon and I had texted Dave about lunch, suggesting we meet at a pub on the Royal Mile. I didn’t want to suggest Italian or some other restaurant that took too long or had a romantic feel to it. I felt stupid for feeling like that. He was so nice, he made me blush and we got along great. But something was making me doubt it. Well, someone. Peter popped up in my head. I told myself I was being ridiculous as I took my jacket and umbrella and headed out.
