I started to realize things were a bit strange. I think I was an elf as well which was a great feeling. I was light on my feet, loved my long hair and felt happy, but reality was starting to sink in. I looked up at Peter’s ice blue eyes and I knew then that I was dreaming. I hadn’t thought about it up until that moment and I didn’t want to tell Peter either. It didn’t feel necessary to bring it up, and by not talking about it made it all feel real and I did not want to lose that feeling.

We sat down on the ground where we had been standing. I let go of his hand just to steady myself as I sat down.

“Suppose we can enjoy the view from here,” he said, resting his hand on the ground slightly behind me, his upper arm brushing against my back and leaning in close. It felt both old and new, like we’d done this a hundred times before, but I also felt warm and nervous, just like on a first date.

“What do you do when I’m not here?” I asked. Thinking my made up man might have a made up background, who knows what my subconscious could come up with.

“I don’t know, it’s like I fade away when you leave, like I’m sleeping and then when I wake up I see you. Like today, I stood there and saw the tree and you standing by the staircase…looking beautiful I might add. But I have this feeling it’s OK, even though I feel a little confused at times, like I’m not sure why I’m here, but then I see you and it just feels right. I mean, look at where we are and where we’ve been as well, can’t complain can I?”

I felt a little guilty at that. What he said was beautiful,
