Chapter 14- The Final Call…..!!!!

July 13: Monday. As soon as I wake up I made a call to Mr.Wangchuk who was leaving for Ladakh along with his teammates. I requested him if I could come along with him and he was pleased with my decision. We then left for Ladakh after 2 hours.

A journey full of uncertainties, doubts, anxiety, longing for love   began. It takes 3 days from our state to reach Taglang La mountain pass in Ladakh. Colonel Wangchuk asked me to leave all my worries for a while and relish the charm of nature, the indigenous flavors of life, and the soothing breeze. “Feel the spirit of a traveler and you will find the answers of all your problems coming to you naturally.”

The flair of Himalayan breeze boasted my heart with a new energy; it just took a splash of water from the Indus River to rejuvenate the soul. Varieties of flora and fauna were calling me, calling my heart to sing with happiness. Raven, Asiatic ibex and chukar seemed so familiar as if I know them since long. Anxieties were turning to hopes and optimism. I was not excited even at the sight of the rarely seen golden eagle because I was rapt in the thoughts of meeting my own Golden Eagle, my Captain.

Finally we reached the camp. He was standing along with his troop members engrossed in a discussion. The green uniform suits him so much as if he is made for it and it is made for him. They look like synonyms of each other. I was standing like a statue; admiring him from distance. I had so much to say but I don’t know how to say. Of course I was exhausted by the 3-day long journey but as soon as I saw him I was in a different world of recreation, feeling a new blood flowing through my veins.

“Go….why are you standing? Surprise him by your presence.” Mr.Wangchuk whispered.

I smiled back at him and ran to meet Rishab. My feet stopped as I reached closer to him. A young boy standing among the troop understood my desperation. “It looks like someone has come from far to see you captain, I request you to turn back.”

Captain Rishab Singh Rathore turned back and saw his stupid psycho, who was standing behind him like a dumb slave.

Ohh…GOD….!!!! You are here.

He lifted me in his arms and gave a tight hug; entire world got dissolved in me. Some soldiers were clapping, a few were hauling, and we all were celebrating the journey of love, the beauty of a soldier’s soul which resides in the hearts of his loved ones. Happiness- embracing all around. No explanation was required, no discussion to be made. It was an eye to eye conversation. The eyes were fighting why you left me all alone, the eyes were complaining I missed you so much, the eyes were yelling I waited so much, and they eyes were celebrating I am feeling crazy to see you in my arms.

Finally….we met. Finally…we were standing together.

In the cold biting evening at Nubra Valley, a snow warrior sipping his glass of beer hailed from far.

“Pain is temporary, Pride last forever.”

Mr. Wangchuk came to us, “I am happy to see you guys together. So Priya, are you planning to get married by our Ladakhian ways?”

I was blushing, feeling thankful to him and God. Life may not be perfect but in the absence of our loved one life has no meaning.

They say so-

If you love a Soldier; raise your glass.

If not, raise your standards.

And the best part………!!!!

Raise your head, walk like a queen if a soldier loves you.

Love makes you strong, love lets you wait till long, I was proud to own a man who cares for my nation, who can give his life for his countrymen and the one who has 11,29,900 brothers who identify themselves as soldiers of the Indian army- ready to live and die for each other. Nation is the true beloved of every soldier, duty is his first girlfriend, responsibilities are his heartbeats but his soul resides in the memories of his family, relatives, friends and beloved. It’s the charm of love that changes you beautifully, and it will help you to become a better person every moment and each day. When my soldier can sacrifice so much, why can’t I adjust a little? Adjustment becomes a blessing because Love becomes your best friend, love becomes your first thought and it is your last dream. It is hard to find a true soul mate but once you have found someone so special it is even harder to live a life in his absence. No matter how many compromises, sacrifices and adjustment you need to face, you will have the courage to take every right decision; once you realize –“It was never about loving a soldier; it was all about being loved by a soldier.” <3 <3 <3

You entered my life so quietly like a thief.

But you are ruling my Heart like a king……!!!!
