Chapter 32

Thomas arrived at the airport, “daddy,” he was crying, “Rebecca said she was my mom’s friend, and she also said I was never going to see you again!” His tears were streaming down his cheeks.

“She said many things I’m sure but…”

“She also said you loved her,” Thomas looked at his father his tears still visible.

“Well it’s not true, ok? That’s what she said to your mother a long time ago, Thomas what she said wasn’t true.”

“I know, I kicked her for lying to us, and she said I was a mustard, my mom hit her face.”

“Mustard?”

“Bastard! She called him a bastard!” Cassandra sounded annoyed.

“What does it mean? Mom was angry at her when she said that.”

Thomas’ face turned red, “Thomas what she said, has anyone else said it before? That is a word no one should ever say to you, and if someone ever calls you that…”

“No just her, and that boy at my other school,” Thomas embraced his son, his son hugged him back as he whimpered.

“No one is ever going to say that to you again,” his tears poured, as heard his son sobbing softly.

Cassandra put her hand up to her throat, she felt a lump there, “the security is calling me, I’ll leave Thomas with you.”

Thomas looked at her and nodded his head, “ok.”

She went with her lawyer, and they followed the security to the room, after a while they walked out with, the security had the pilot in hand cuffs, and he looked at them, “Rebecca knows everything, now the real war is about to start, I hope you’re ready, because you know what she will do! You know!”

“What will she do? Cassandra?”

“I don’t know exactly, I tried to make her tell me…she told me she would destroy my family and everyone around me.” She was looking down as she said that, “Thomas you know I love you, I can’t let anything happen to you…”

“What is she going to do to me?”

“I wish I knew, but she said…Thomas sweety can you wait with the lawyer?” Thomas nodded and left, “she said she would kill Thomas, we have to take care of him.”

“Cassandra, did she mention you at all?” she looked away, “Cassandra! What did she say?”

“Thomas she mentioned him, she said she’d kill him and you too, please Thomas be careful, that’s why I had to do this she’s mad.”

“I know, don’t worry, the police are after her now. Cassandra he looked deep into her eyes, promise me you won’t do anything that has to do with her or her family with out me.”

Cassandra opened her eyes wide, “I love you Thomas, you know that, and I have to do anything to make sure and protect you and…”

“We’ll do it together, there are things like this that you can’t do alone, everyone has to know this, because this affects everyone.”

“Thomas please, if my father finds out, he is capable of looking for her himself and strangle her, please Thomas, there are things I’d rather do alone she is dangerous and…”

“And that is the reason why you can’t confront her alone.”

“The man had quite a few arrest warrants, so thank you. I guess you‘re not the first he took by force, he killed quite a few…”

“Your welcome!”

“Cassandra this is why you can’t face her alone.”

“Ok, but I’ll confront her sister give me the chance to do that at least…”

Thomas sighed, “I guess I can’t win this one totally, ok but we face Rebecca together. Promise?”

Cassandra promised, when they were back home Nicholas was waiting for them at the airport, “are you guys ok?” Cassandra nodded.

“That pilot had killed so many people, he wasn’t a real pilot. He was a murderer. Cassandra you weren’t ok, you could’ve been killed!”

“Thomas your son is asleep, and I was rescued by my night and shinning armor, I’m fine with you here, and I wasn’t going to let anything happen to our son,” she looked back at Nicholas, “has your manager called you?”

“Yes, I’m getting my stuff and I’m moving out, if he listened to Rebecca once he could do it again.”

“Nicholas where are you going to live?” Thomas asked surprised.

“Cassandra how did you get away from him? Was it easy?”

“Nicholas?”

“Well I’ll be fine, what happened with you was worse, listen do you guys need a detective, I can talk to one for you, I’ll pay it!”

“With what money?” Thomas asked.

“My tuition money, I’ve been using it to live here and it’s my money, this is important! If Rebecca can do this, what else is she capable of?”

“Nicholas the plane tickets you gave me?”

“They’re yours! Thomas I wasn’t going to go with you empty handed you needed something for your wedding, look I just wanted to give you something different.”

“Nicholas I have a place, here are the keys no one lives there you can stay there, it was where I lived. You can start to work for me just get settled and…”

“Thanks I don’t know what I’d do…” he brought his fists to his face, “Thomas if you need anything, just…”

“Take care of your self and if you ever see Rebecca call the police, they are really looking for her now. And don’t waste your money, because you’re going to need it, you’re going back to school.”

Nicholas smiled, and they arrived home, everyone was there waiting for them. The lawyer explained what had happened, and Thomas was awake telling what had happened when they were in the plane and how they got away.

His grandparents were surrounding him, as they hugged him and telling him he’d be alright now, Thomas started to cry and hugged them back. Julie and Mr. Thompson looked worried, “we came as soon as we heard. Are you guys alright?” They nodded.

Cassandra told them what Rebecca had told her, “but I don’t think she’s going to do much anymore, the police are after her, and…”

“I better not find her first!” her father said angry, “I’ll give her a piece of my mind!” He said throwing a fist in the air.

The lawyer told Cassandra that the judge from New York had set the date earlier for Barbara’s court date, and it would be held the next day, because of the circumstances.

Cassandra went the next day, after asking permission from Mr. Swan to get the day off from work, he knew what had happened and he let her go, Cassandra arrived to the court in New York.

Barbara was given five years for attempted murder and a restriction order, she would never be able to get near her as long as she lived, to Cassandra. Mr. Swan fired Barbara when he found out she had been guilty, and when Cassandra came back he picked her up at the airport, Thomas didn’t know that she had gone to court that day.

Nicholas had started to work together with Thomas and he was the new manager, in charge of hiring people from manual labor, to executives.

Julie gave the news to everyone that she was pregnant, and her husband liked the news.

Days went by and it was her wedding day everyone was happy, Thomas was with everyone at the church, waiting for his parents everyone was there from work, to friends and family.

Cassandra was running late, and her mother and sister were helping her. They placed the bail on and they took some more pictures before leaving.

A limousine arrived, “I guess Thomas must have called it, mom I’ll meet you guys at the church.”

“Alright sweety.”

Meanwhile Thomas looked nervous, as he walked from side to side, his father was there, “Thomas relax, she’s already on her way.”

“I know, she wants to get back at me for what happened years ago…”

“No actually all the women take long at their wedding day, they enjoy making you wait…” he whispered until he noticed his wife walking up to him.

“Andrew what are you telling our son?” She had her arms crossed.

“I was telling him not to worry because, she’s on her way. The limousine’s bringing her.”

“Limo?” Thomas looked back at his brother who was acting innocently, looking up while whistling.

Suddenly they went to sit, as the wedding march started, Mr. Hopkins was walking Cassandra down the aisle, and she looked stunning, Thomas was astonished to see how she looked.

Cassandra was taking slow but steady steps, her dress was a snow white with and she looked happy. Her dress had decorative pearls, and the top accentuated her well.

The priest married them, Mrs. Hopkins started crying when they got to the ‘I do’ part. The priest said, “if anyone has any objections why this two shouldn’t be married speak now.”

“I object!” Everyone turned to see a woman walking down the aisle, she had a ski mask on but Cassandra knew who she was.

“Rebecca?”

“I told you if he’s not for me, he’s not for you either,” she took out the gun from her bag, and pointed it straight at them.

Thomas stood in front of Cassandra, she shot upwards and everyone screamed, Thomas ran to his mom and dad, “Thomas!”

“I warned you, Cassandra.” She pointed the gun to their son, but before she shot Nicholas tackled her down.

Rebecca fell unconscious, and Nicholas stood and took off the mask from her face. “I’m fine, she is to she’s just unconscious,” he took out his cell phone and dialed the police were on their way.

“Thomas you shouldn’t let her stop you from getting married it took you five years to get your life back,” suddenly he felt a pain behind his head as he fell back.

Rebecca hit him on the back of his head with the gun, but he had already called the police who were on their way. “I said, I object!” She walked over to the bride, “Cassandra come with me if you don’t want me to blow your son’s brains out, now!”

Cassandra looked over at Thomas, “stay with him,” she stepped aside.

“Cassandra don’t!” He grabbed her wrist, and he wouldn’t let her go, “you can’t go, please stay Cassandra…”

“I am doing this, because I love you,” she looked to her son, “and I love you to sweetheart, that is why I must do this.”

“No, I’m not letting you!”

“I told her to! Now let her go!”

“You shut up!” They said in unison, Cassandra looked back at Thomas, and her tears started to flow, “I love you so much, and I would do anything to keep us together, please let me go.”

“Cassandra…I won’t it’s better if we stick together.”

“I can’t make you take responsibility that doesn’t belong to you, Rebecca she’s got a gun pointed at you and our son. I can’t watch her hurt you. I’d rather…”

“Stop it, I love you and I can’t just stay back and watch you get hurt either, let me go.”

“No! I want her!”

“Thomas stay with our son, don’t worry about me,” she hugged him, “I’ll be fine, trust me.”

Thomas let her go, and she was leaving, “wait!” he kissed her, and Rebecca pulled her and with the gun to her head they headed out. The sirens were outside.

Thomas tried freeing himself from his father, “mom! Dad let me go I wanna see if she’s ok.”

“Thomas listen to me, stay here with I’ll go see, and we’ll both come back to you, I promise.”

Thomas nodded his head, “ok.” he went to sit on the bench.

Nicholas was waking up, “Thomas what happened?”

“Nicholas we’ll talk in a bit, you should sit on the bench,” he walked outside and saw Cassandra struggling with Rebecca pointing the gun to her.

“You thought you could just come and take him away from me, didn’t you?”

“I didn’t take anything away from you Rebecca, he was never yours to begin with. You always treated the people, like if they were a piece of meat, and you never really saw them as people, I feel sorry for you Rebecca because you’ll never have his love.”

Rebecca pushed her to the ground, Cassandra sat up and she noticed Thomas standing behind Rebecca, “I’ll have it once you’re dead, I’ll go in jail but I’m a lawyer I know what to do to get out early, five years max…get up!”

Cassandra stood, and Rebecca fell face down, Thomas hit her hard on the head, he found a rope and tied her. “Thomas!” Cassandra hugged him. The police came up on time to take her when she woke up.

The priest came back to the altar, and they went back to, “I now pronounce you man and wife!” He looked around nervously, and then sighed in relief, “by the power vested in me.”

Thomas looked at Cassandra the priest went through his book, Thomas grabbed Cassandra and kissed her, “ah yes, here it is…you may kiss your bride. Oh, good….sorry guys I was nervous, all that’s happened.”

Everyone laughed, and Cassandra left on Thomas’ side, the police had left and Nicholas was waiting outside, “good finally it’s over.”

“Nicholas, are you ok?” He nodded.

“I’m ok, you know how indestructible I am,” he joked.

“Oh very funny,” Thomas smiled, and everyone left to the party, which ended late. Thomas’ parents decided to move to San Diego where they would be close to them.

Everyone was there to see them go off when they were in the airport. Thomas opened the envelope that his brother had given him, his eyes went wide, “Nicholas!..”

“Your welcome. Hey have fun alright, I knew you’d like it, ok bye.” When they called the passengers to go, they left with a big smile.

Once they were in the plane, Cassandra looked over at Thomas who was asleep on her lap. “Thomas I have to tell you something, there’s something that I’ve been hiding from you, maybe because there was no time to tell you or maybe because I didn’t know how to, I mean it’s the first time I’m telling you this…”

“What is it?”

“When I went to the hospital, I told them my symptoms and they did the tests, remember?”

“I remember, what happened?”

Cassandra looked into Thomas’ eyes and for a moment she was afraid, “I’m pregnant.”

Thomas was shocked he started to laugh as he kissed her, “I thought I was the happiest man before, but now I really am happy. I love you even more.”
