Seven

On reaching home that evening I was very nervous and scared especially of my dad’s reaction. I know they are very liberal and cool parents but there is a line to everything (this could be mine). When I realised he had not arrived and was running late it was like a sign. I say this because dad has never ever been late unless traveling, he moves by the clock, always punctual and disciplined. I quietly took mom to my room and sat her down, she looked alarmed seeing the nervousness on my face and asked if all was right. Stuttering and stammering I told her all about Rahul. I started from our first train journey to the episode with those hooligans which had then been the beginning to our affair, to the fight and finally to our kiss today.

I was red in the face while I spoke, but mom was absolutely astounded.

It took a while for her to process what I had just told her.
