Book Description HTML

After spending a lifetime traveling through time to visit any place or time period that strikes his fancy, Jack finds himself trapped one thousand years in the future, a future radically different from what he is used to. He quickly befriends Paul, an archeologist, who unwittingly helps him recover his lost time machine. The two of them, along with Janet, a government worker and Suzie, a hologram with an infectious personality, set off on a quest to find a lost treasure. Their journey takes them throughout earth’s history from the far future to the distant past where they discover much of what they thought they knew about history and science was simply not true. Along the way, they encounter secret societies, dinosaurs and pirates.

As usual, a classic brings it. Too bad modern writers don't take a few hints from the oldies. I really enjoyed this book, apart from a bit of the romantic hang-ups, but the suspense was intriguing and kept me wondering.

Interesting mystery,it took me to the end to figure it out completely. At only 140 pages it seemed longer by all the extra characters in the story. Good story but it did not engage me to want to keep reading.

I am familiar with Wilkie Collins' classics "The Moonstone" and "The woman in White" but had no idea that he wrote so many mystery stories most of which are not available at our local public libraries. Thanks for the selection of his less well known books.Sara
