Evan Payne had never been one for amusement parks. All

the rides, the spinning and the going up and down and

around… all they did was make his stomach feel like it was

dancing. For similar reasons, he didn’t like elevators. He

took the stairs whenever possible, which had resulted in

many late arrivals at important meetings over the years.

Heights in general bothered him and he could scarcely

walk across the top level of a parking garage without

falling to the ground and hugging it like a long lost lover.

Because of these quirks, his employers had decided he

was the perfect man for a certain job. They had offered
