Chapter 24: Daylight

At five, they grab a free breakfast off the lobby. Eating as quickly as possible so Rob can sleep. Thirty minutes later, Jeff is watching the TV, with volume off and captions on. This allows Rob to sleep and hallway noises to be heard.

At one thirty in the afternoon, they take turns showering and dressing before they head down to the restaurant for lunch. Afterwards, they wander past all of the clubs the bears own two blocks apart to scope out surveillance spots for cameras, if needed for plan B. They were on phones alternating saying good to each other as the walked.

Once out of range of the area, they met up and discussed what they saw, while they continued walking. They eventually end up back in position by four thirty.

They went back to code words, until five. At five, Rob stated, "hold," called the alphas, and stated "good," when they were connected. The car was in the driveway so Jeff stated, "empty car." Afterwards, more "nothing," until around seven once more. He was waiting and ready this time so sent a face highlighted, by the outside light, still in the doorway to the alphas, as he stated, "picture one."

This gets an immediate, "boss," reply from Kam. They get sent away immediately and told to be in place at six thirty tomorrow. At the end of the week, all seven days the boss exits the house between six fifty-nine and seven four. This is their last night in this hotel. They have alternated sleep shifts each evening. Now, they have to leave by eleven and eat breakfast by ten so Rob takes the first six hour watch and Jeff the second. They are packed, showered, and eating by nine thirty. Rob gets a taxi with the luggage to the next hotel, while Jeff walks there.

They check in with a different foreign business credit card. This is just for the one night. Come ten in the morning, Chris will pick them up. If things fail tonight, plan B goes into effect. Jeff has the first six shift tonight. They get room service for both lunch and dinner. They talk quietly still listening for hallway noise. By nine, there was still no word on tonight's exercise so Jeff took both burners into his room. Rob when to sleep quickly.

At eleven, both phones got the message Jeff was hoping for. A ride to collect them come morning. The mission to capture the boss was successful.

At three, he shared the news with Rob, before going to sleep. At nine thirty, they had breakfast and got into Chris' van for the blind ride back to the condos.
