CHAPTER 51: EAGLE EYE

Now, the Charger is drifting off into a potential disaster with no person to steer it away. Hellhound jumps off the Charger and on top of a bus. He watches on as the Charger drift into another lane with no driver to direct its course away from destruction.

“Ha!” he shouts to the car in a victorious tone.

Jason grips Iva tightly and braces himself for a looming impact. With no driver, Jason is pretty much a sitting duck waiting to die. However, Eric saw everything three lanes over in the SUV.

“FUCK!” Eric shouts in horror as he watches the car drifting by itself into another lane.

He opens the driver’s door and sucks in a lung full of air. His next move is pure reflex. He slams on the brakes hard and swiftly rotates the steering wheel at a 180 degree angle. This causes the tires to burn massively on the highway. Most importantly, the momentum of a vehicle going 65 miles per hour and stopping suddenly creates a cannonball effect. As Eric is catapulting out of the SUV, he explodes into a giant eagle, dispersing clothes into the air.

His unique animal senses allow him see things at a slow speed, like a movie playing in slow motion. Time is ticking at a rate of one-hundred frames per second or 100 FPS. The more frames in a second, the slower time becomes. He banks hard right through the air as his burgundy SUV flips behind him. He flaps his wings to pick up some well-needed speed. Although time is very slow, it’s running out for the Charger. It’s about forty-feet in front of him, drifting off into another lane with no one to control it.

The test of time is not the only obstacle he must overcome in this situation. His first obstacle is a silver sedan. He harnesses his ability to slow time until he reaches one-hundred thousand frames per second or 100,000 FPS. He’s now moving so slow that it’s as if time has stopped completely. This is called The God Realm or the 4th dimension. In this dimension, only three things seem to be functioning; the neurons in his brain, his thoughts, and his eyes.

Ripples of sound waves are radiating off everything and fading into the air. This is because we’re able to see sound moving in this realm but we cannot hear it. Everything surrounding Aero, including small pieces of glass, seems to be vibrating. The entire area looks like a 3D image of a car crash cut from a magazine. Cars are suspended in midair along with glass and metal that are barely moving.

Some woman driving a minivan is screaming at the top of her lungs but no sound can be heard at this speed. Her frozen scream is creating a large ripple pattern that is pulsating throughout the inside of the minivan. Although Aero’s body is stuck in position, his eyes can still glance around. He looks left and right to observe his surrounding area.

A car is in his way; a silver Lincoln. The male driver and passenger are frozen in time. Their faces are twisted with fright. Aero studies the position of the vehicle and suddenly his mind begins to formulate a way around this obstacle. His eyes are used to see the information and the neurons in his brain are made to sort out the information that’s being seen. A tremendous amount of data is being poured into his brain by the gallons. Bytes turn into kilobytes, then kilobytes turn into megabytes, then megabytes turn into gigabytes, then gigabytes turn into terabytes, and then terabytes turn into petabytes.

The information scrambles around in his mind like a distorted puzzle. The neurons in his mind races back and forth, organizing this data until he can understand what he’s witnessing. Now he’s ready to continue. The frame rate goes down to about one-hundred frames per second again or 100 FPS.

He flaps his wings another time to help him gain enough speed to soar around the front of the vehicle; his feathers brushes against the front window. As Aero goes by, both the driver’s and passenger’s face progressively forms an astonished expression as they witness the giant bird move across their line of sight. Slowly, their appalled eyes follow him as he continues his obstacle course.

Immediately after flying pass the silver Lincoln, he spots a pillar bouncing off the ground and heading his way. The blow would shatter every bone in his body, causing him to die from eternal bleeding as an end result. Once again, he slows time to about 100,000 FPS. An incredible amount of data pours into his mind again. The neurons in his brain shoot back and forth, trying to find a way around this new obstacle. He shifts his eyes left and studies the length of the object and how it’s rotating. He knows by turning in the air, he can dodge the tumbling piece of concrete. However, his timing has to be perfect. Once again, time goes back down to one-hundred frames per second or 100 FPS. With the help of his uncanny reflex, he rolls in midair and dodges the pillar by mere inches.

A blue Mini Cooper takes the blow instead. Gradually, the front folds in like a soda can, and all of the windows of the vehicle shatter as a woman goes flying through the windshield. Aero is able to see every particle of glass dispersing into the air. Nuts and bolts scatter into the air as the woman’s body hits the hard pavement and tumbles and tumbles. Blood rises into the air as her body twist into an unrecognizable form.

He sees another pillar flying at him at a deadly speed. He slows down time again to one-hundred thousand frames per second or 100,000 FPS. He rolls in the air and tries to dodge the pillar just like how he did the first. His right wing is hit. His wing took a hard blow but did not break. However, this mistake does take away time he needs. He tries his best to stop rotating in the air and regain his balance while flying. Iva and Jason’s lives are at stake.

He manages to gain his balance but this small mistake had caused him the time he needed to save Jason and Iva. He is only ten-feet away from them when he sees another pillar flying toward the Charger. But it’s too late for him to save them now. The large piece of concrete comes quick like a bat out of hell and destroys the front of the Charger. Jason goes through the windshield with Iva still in his arms.

Their bodies fly across the highway and tumble forcefully across the hard pavement like a dummy that was shot out by a cannon. A body flung that fast from a vehicle pushing eighty miles an hour would easily render anyone into a heap of twisted meat. Every bone in their body brakes with a nasty cracking noise that could make a person with the toughest spirit cringe. Iva’s leg completely brakes off as her frail muscles fibers are torn apart. Her left foot breaks from her ankle and flies across the highway. Now all hope is lost. Saving her is beyond impossible…
