10.3. Selecting materials

The device could be made of the materials selected for the device in Figure 1 and other similar devices for clock mechanisms adopted in instrument building techniques. The dial is stamped of aluminium sheet or this steel sheet. Its middle section is made of clear plastic – acrylic resin, polystyrene, PVC, etc. The spheres are made of steel. The larger spheres 13 could alternatively be made of other materials like PVC, amber, ivory, etc. as per the requirements of the demand and cost considerations.
