10.4. Design concept

The idea is to build a suitable time measuring device to be used by blind people or people with poor sight. Also, the device should be made suitable to be read by touching with the fingers. Other objectives are good quality; reliability and durability adopting a certified and tested driving clock mechanism. Suitable for such purposes are the spheres (balls), which are unlikely to cause any damage and are easy to be read by blind people. The rotation of a normal 1:12 transmission available in most mechanical clocks is used to move the indicating spheres out.
