CATALYZE: your responsibility.

The phenomenal life is more than just creating the light that attracts, or striving to keep those you have attracted by your euphoric aura. There is a responsibility placed on you to catalyze and spur up growth and development. Becoming a phenomenon is about taking the leaders spot. The persons drawn to you come because they anticipate the effect you would be making in their lives. They want to move from where they are at the moment to a higher level.

Don’t fret about this. With great power comes great responsibility, a popular statement from the Spiderman flick. If you truly want to be a phenomenon, then you must take responsibility. You must be ready to drive the whole people to the destination faster than they would have had it all by themselves. That’s what a catalyst does. A catalyst speeds up reactions so that it occurs at a shorter time than it would have occurred.

The scientists in the laboratory make use of catalyst during chemical reactions to cause some chemicals to combine and form new substance. There are reaction that would never take place in real life except a catalyst is added. Phenomenal persons are the catalyst around which other persons interact with themselves and find value and essence. They spur up people interaction and encourage gainful interaction that will lead to the development of a whole new set of ideas. They make other person believe in their individual ideas encouraging them to make their ideas count by giving them all the support they need. Certainly, when these ideas become reality, these persons will always owe it to the phenomenon.

There are many people around you whose ability is phenomenal but lack the capacity to stir it. They want that catalyst in you to trigger that ability and give it a voice.

I had problems during high school with my academics. I struggled with the lower half of the class. It was painful though but I struggled with it. At the end the year my class teacher commented “Samuel is very playful but could be very brilliant”. I got home and got the trashing of my life from my dad for being playful. I never knew I was playful because I thought it was normal. But things got to change. The same teacher who said I was playful began to call me “professor”. It was a great comment but I wasn’t up to it. But as she continued to call be by the tag professor, the professor in me erupted. I needed to be a professor so I worked at it and soon enough, I was hitting the top of the class. That teacher was a catalyst who used the power of her words to cause change in my life. She influenced my upward growth by her tag name “professor. She was a phenomenon.

Are you struggling with children, friends or even acquaintances that are having a downtime because of what seemingly is their inadequacies and limitations? You are around them because you have to help them see why they should be up there. You are their catalyst.

There are traits you will need to become a successful catalyst

  • You need initiative. Catalysts make things happen. They do not wait, they cause. They are focused and determined to get what they want. They know their end point and have developed ideas on how to achieve their set goal. They offer to take risk, and get started at achieving their goal. The initiative is for you start up the process of becoming that leading light.
  • You have to promote the positives. Off course in life, every person, idea, thoughts has its pros and cons. A catalyst blinds his eyes to the negatives and looks at developing the positive side of things. They create a buzz with their ideas and even when a strong opposition stands against them, they hold on to their ideas. The person around you may have negative sides but your responsibility is to help them see their positive side and trigger them to act in that direction.
  • You have to make change manageable. To introduce a new idea to a person could meet some strong resistance especially if the person has being using an old idea and makes some degree of success. As a catalyst, you have to develop ways to break down change into manageable chunks the persons you are spurring can easily absorb without even noticing you are trying to change them.
  • You need agility. To be a good catalyst, you have to have agility. Sometimes while working with people, you could lose sense of direction. When you do, you have to pick up the pieces and return to the path you were heading.

If you have these traits, you can become the catalyst for change in the lives of people by following the following the following approaches

  • Analyze. Analyze the people you intend to catalyze. It is certain they have needs. These needs may be general to the group of person you are trying to catalyze or independent. Note the differences that each person has. Don’t try to treat everyone the same. As each person’s need is, supply your catalytic ability in proportion.
  • Take initiative. When you see a need that has to be solved in the life of a person, solve them. Don’t wait for complaints. Open your eyes to the needs of others and jump at solving them before they even notice they have these needs. Some person may have needs but they won’t complain because they just don’t know how to get around telling people about their need. When you initiate a solving process, these persons tend to hold you in awe.
  • Give and get feedback. When you offer help or aid, create a feedback mechanism to measure how effective your impact has being to the people. This will help you recognize gray areas where your effect is still needed, areas you can improve upon to have maximum impact.
  • Create an atmosphere for change. You need to develop the atmosphere for change. People should anticipate change anytime you are around. Break off from the normal status and develop air that something has to move and people have to move when you around. When you create this atmosphere, people naturally will see you as a change causer and they will naturally turn to you for some of your change effect.

Being the catalyst for change is rewarding and empowering. Grab the reins, take initiative and make deliberate changes to your life to get you to go faster than you are right now and not just you but the people around you too. That’s what phenomenal people do.
