The Mirror

Maggie Diggins had a rough life, her mother was a witch and was into witchcraft, her brother was obsessed with a Ouija board and her father left them when she was little it was her, her mom, and her older brother Xander, and her dog Cocoa. Life was hard on Maggie she had to take of the house, cook, clean, do laundry and hold a part time job at the local diner being hostess. Her mom was to busy with her other witchy friends to busy to give a crap about her and her brother and Xander couldn’t give up his obsession, Maggie was surprised to find that her house isn’t infested with demons or the devil himself.  She was religious and it was hard living in that house with all that went on there. She was in no position to move out she barely had enough for groceries and bills. She hated the house she lived and hated what her and brother were doing it went against everything she believed in and she tried her hardest to stop her mother and brother they won’t listen. Maggie felt alone and ignored by her family. Late one night when Maggie came from work the house was empty and dark she called for her brother and mother but no answer, she checked her brother’s room and then her mother’s but they empty then she noticed this old antique mirror in the hallway, it was beautiful and it had old carvings and made of pewter. She looked at the mirror and first she felt normal she saw her own reflection, she’d look away and she thought she saw a glimpse of something it was dark and scary and red glowing eyes, she’d look again it would be gone. It gave her the willies as if the house didn’t feel creepy enough the mirror definitely made it worse. She walked away and grabbed her close and took a shower, she started the water and waited till got hot and jumped in. She lathers up washing herself and she washes her hair, meanwhile in the hallway the mirror starts to come to life it was the demon again, this it was coming out of the mirror, it made it’s way through from the other realm, it was big, black about seven feet tall, with a long tail. Maggie was still in the shower and swore she heard loud footsteps that sounded like stomping, she popped her head out the door and called for her brother and mother and nothing. She heard the footsteps all the way down the hall to her room then it got silent. She turned off the shower got dressed and headed to her room to go bed. She was tired after her shift and she wanted to go to sleep. The minute she laid her head down she was out. It was about two in morning when she woke up loud knocking on her wall three times she heard, she thought it her mother or brother knocking because they forgot their keys, she’d go downstairs and check and nothing she go back to bed it start up again, this time it was coming from her closet the closer she got the more scared she became she feel the presence of evil. She was just turned the knob her closet door just then she heard a hiss and growl, she was jumped back the demon lunged at her she screamed and kicked it off it hissed again and scratched her deep. She yelped in pain and the demon just laughed, she yelled out you’re not welcome here and the demon laughed yet again and said “I’ve been invited in by your brother and mother and I live in the mirror and that was brought into your house, I come from the deepest darkest realm of hell.” I don’t want you here go away, go away, go away”, she said as she closed her eyes the demon was gone. The next day her mother and brother were finally home after being gone all night, her brother crashed at his friends house, and her mom was out with her coven. She told them what happened, but they just laughed at her and told her she was crazy. But soon her mother and brother would find out what was in the house. Her mother and brother went to their rooms to sleep. Maggie had the house to herself at least for a little while for soon she had to be at work and boy was she glad because she hated that mirror. She got dressed and drove to work. At home all things were quiet but not for long, the demon came out the mirror and walked straight for Xander’s room, the demon quietly opened the door and crept in careful not to wake his victim, the demon grabbed Xander who was still asleep picked up and slung him on his shoulder and took him to the mirror and carried him through where he went back through the portal to the deepest, darkest, realm of hell. The demon placed his victim in a cave that had black bars that were crosshatched kind of like a door to an old jail cell. The demon made it’s way back through the mirror to get his second victim Maggie’s mother, she was sleeping soundly and he slid through the huge crack of the door trying not make the door creak as it opened a little, he took the mother off the bed slung her over his shoulder and carried her through the mirror went through the portal to hell except he had a special place for the mother a place called Malebolge which is the worst part of hell you could ever be. Later on that evening when Maggie came home the house was empty yet again, she called for her brother and mother and nothing; so she figured they were out again like they always were and she didn’t even give it a second thought, days went by and they still haven’t been home now Maggie is getting worried, her brother and mother were never gone this long so she started calling her brother’s friends, school, work, they have heard from him or seen him, she called her mom’s friends from the coven nobody has seen her either. Now she is panicking thinking the worst and then she hears muffled yelling, she goes upstairs to checkout she goes to the mirror at first she sees her own reflection and then she sees the realms of hell and there in a cave was her brother, and the mirror shifted and was blurry for a minute and got clear again here it showed her mother in the deepest worst part of hell imaginable. She yelled for them for them, but they could hear nothing but muffled sounds, she could hear them it made no sense. Just as the demon showed itself Maggie was taken aback and jumped and screamed, the demon through a rock at the mirror and it shattered into a million pieces, she cried out, “no” but it was too late her brother and mother were gone forever.
