Program Change Symbols

Just as with Damper Pedal symbols, there is a link between Program Change Events and Program Change symbols in the score. This means that if you insert a Program Change symbol in the score (from the “Other” Symbol Palette), an actual Program Change Event is inserted at the same position. The opposite is also true: if you record Program Change Events (or enter them in another editor), they will be displayed as Program Change symbols in the score. Note however, that Program Change settings made in the Inspector don’t show in the score, since these are playback settings only, not actual Events.

• If you have recorded or entered Program Change Events and don’t want them to show in the score, activate the option “Hide Program Changes” in the Preferences–Scores– Additional Settings dialog.

This function allows you to make a crescendo or diminuendo symbol affect the actual velocity values of the notes in the range. Proceed as follows:
