Your Image and How Important It Is

How many times have you looked at someone and judged them based solely on their image? We’ve all done this at some point. It’s said that the first impression is the most important. If so, why don’t we work on our image more? Why don’t we study the image of the people we want to be like have, and try to mirror it? That’s actually one of the strongest advertising strategies companies use to entice customers to buy. They use famous people to endorse a product. They’re counting on the fact that you’ll think someone you look up to does it, so you should do it. They create an image that they hope you’ll mirror, based on what you associate with that image.

Strengthen your image by keeping your hair trimmed and dressing in clean, well-fitting clothes. Matching your apparel is also important. If you need help with finding good clothes or style, use the Internet or ask a person working at your nearest mall in the nicer-clothing department. They will be more than happy to help suit you up with nice outfits in hopes that you will buy. (Ask for discounts, and justify your request with the reason, “I’m willing to buy right now, if you can discount the price in any way.”) There are lots of stores that have stylish, great-fitting clothes at affordable prices. So there shouldn’t be any excuse for your image not being at its best. A powerful and memorable image will dramatically increase the quality of your relationships and your opportunities for success. Dress for the role you want — not for the role you have.
