Choosing A Category

You will need to choose a category and a sub-‐category for your gig. Now whilst

these are important, as some people will search for an item purely based on a

category, then be aware many people new to fiverr are unlikely to do this as they

may not be aware of categories and just type “youtube views” in the fiverr search

box and hit the return key. That said a number of people will click on the

relevant gig category boxes on the fiverr homepage so it is important to make

sure you pick the right category to maximise your gig views and potential sales.

So whilst you need to select a category and make sure that it is a suitable one for

the service that you are offering then your gig may not live or die based on this

as you are likely to get people viewing your gig anyway, it’s just by putting it in

the right category you’ll get more views from targeted buyers. Just like Google

fiverr appears to take a wide variety of factors (Think of it as fiverr SEO) in to

account when deciding what gigs it pulls up in the search results.

That said we would make sure that you pick the most suitable categories and

sub-‐categories that you can. As in someway it will count towards fiverr SEO and

it wouldn’t be a good idea to put your gig in a totally wrong category.

One way to check is to search for similar gigs and see what categories and sub-‐

categories those people have selected for theirs.

There is a category for everything you can think of, and it being fiverr, quite a

few you won’t have thought, or ever need to think of, or ever even need to think

of, or not really want to ever think of…you get the picture :-‐ )
