CHIOMA

I thought I was dead...

Femi stops her flow of words, and puts her in touch with reality.

FEMI

Who is Emeka? I heard you mention his name a lot. Tell me more about him.

CHIOMA

I would have to narrate the whole story from the start.

FEMI

I’ve got time. It’s my job. Go on,

I’m listening.

Chioma tells her story from the beginning:

CHIOMA

If there were two people meant for each other, but fated to be apart, it was Emeka and I. We met, or more accurately first saw each other at Exquisite Restaurant, Fola Osibo Street, Lekki Phase One. We sat at different tables, in line with each other and we were both there with our significant other.

CHIOMA (CONT’D) (smiles)

It was Valentine’s Day.

DISSOLVE TO:

INT. EXQUISITE RESTAURANT - NIGHT - FLASHBACK

The Restaurant is full, mostly with Couples celebrating St. Valentine’s Day. The room is diffused with SOFT soothing jazz music and UNORGANIZED noise as Couples whisper words of love to each other. Everybody is nicely dressed with a touch of red.

We can see rows of SMALL round tables where Couples are seated, facing each other. Some are holding hands. Some are kissing each other. Some are smiling as they whisper across the table to each other. Some are eating the delicious meal in front of them. And some are toasting to the love they share with HALF-FILLED glasses of champagne.
