EMEKA

(looking at Chioma)

Would anybody care to introduce me to this beautiful lady standing in front of me?

Quickly Uche grips Chioma’s left hand like a male lizard guarding his territory. Chioma SLOWLY looks at her hand intertwined with Uche’s. She is not at ease. She looks at Emeka and smiles when she notices his eyes LOCKED on her intertwined hand with jealousy.

AMARA (to Emeka)

Emeka meet Uche. (to Uche)

Uche meet Emeka.

AMARA (CONT’D) But you two know each other

already, so there was really no need for the introduction.

CHIOMA

(to Uche; surprised) You two know each other?

AMARA (to Chioma)

Yeah, we all went to the same university. Uche and Emeka used to be best friends.

CHIOMA

Best friends?!

Chioma looks at Emeka, and then at Uche.

INT. ROOM 7, WING C, ST. NICHOLAS HOSPITAL - CONTINUOUS

We arrive at a cross-section of the room, with the visitor’s chair drawn closer to the bed and Femi still seated on it. Femi is holding the Recorder to Chioma’s mouth.

CHIOMA

I knew that there was a history between Emeka and Uche, but I didn’t bother to dig up the past. From the way they looked at each other, whatever it was, it must have been pretty ugly and very nasty, so I decided to let the sleeping dog lie.
