EMEKA (smiles)

 

Yes, of course. So you agree that you were looking at me. To me that’s the same as checking someone out.

 

CHIOMA

(now looking at Emeka)

 

You talk too much, and that’s not good for a man.

 

CHIOMA (CONT’D)

I felt your stare burn the top of my head when I was trying to have dessert. You can’t deny that.

 

They laugh and continue in silence for a while, then Emeka asks a question that stops Chioma in her tracks:

 

EMEKA

So do you love him?

 

Chioma looks at Emeka, curious about the intention of his question.

 

CHIOMA

Why do you ask?

 

Chioma looks ahead at Uche.

 

EMEKA (flirtatiously)

 

Staring at me like that, it’s clear that you really like me, and you can only like one person at a time.

 

JUMP CUT TO:

 

 

INT. ROOM 7, WING C, ST. NICHOLAS HOSPITAL - CONTINUOUS

 

Chioma is laying sideways, on her right hand, facing Femi. The Recorder is laying on the pillow.

 

CHIOMA

 

I wanted to say that I didn’t fancy him, but something in Emeka’s presence called me to tell the truth, and so I did.

 

DISSOLVE TO:

 

 

EXT. PARKING LOT, EXQUISITE RESTAURANT - CONTINUOUS - FLASHBACK

 

Chioma confesses shyly:
