INT. BEDROOM, FEMI’S APARTMENT - THE NEXT DAY

It’s day-break with the Sun soothingly streaming into the bedroom through the window. Femi is standing before the window, dressing up in a black shirt and green khaki trouser Police uniform. He buttons up his shirt, concealing his white singlet, as he looks through the window to discover that the Police van is gone now. His taller shadow casts beautifully behind him upon the red rug beneath his gallant boots.

Chioma yawns loudly as she opens her eyes for the first time since last night. Close on her thighs as they rub against each other, in her attempt to rise up. Femi turns around to train his sight upon the beauty that rattles upon the bed-sheet.

CHIOMA

(with a matchless smile) Good morning.

She struggles against the brilliant sun streaming in, to open her eyes fully to the new day. Femi responds with an equally charming smile:

FEMI

Good morning.

Chioma is on her feet, watching Femi as he tucks his shirt into his khaki trouser. She looks away slowly, with her eyes now locked on something off-camera.

Why did you circle 17 on your calendar? Isn’t today 17?

Now we can see what she is referring to: a Nigeria Police calendar hanging from a nail drilled to the wall. The number ‘17’ under the month of February is roughly circled with a blue ink. Femi turns away from the window and quickly locks his eyes on the calendar. He exclaims as soon as he recalls what the circle means:

FEMI

Shit! Today is my parent’s anniversary, and I promised them to come over first thing in the morning.

CHIOMA

What about your job? Won’t you take permission to be absent today?
