Hard-Boiled Eggs

As boring as this “recipe” may sound, boiled eggs are a meal-preppers dream. A boiled egg is a great “side dish” to any breakfast, as they provide a great dose of protein. A boiled egg and a prepped smoothie for breakfast? Yes please.

Serves: 7 boiled eggs (one egg per serving, as a protein hit)

Container: you can store these any way you like, you could even put them in the egg holder inside your fridge to save using a separate bowl or container

Time: approximately 20 minutes (including cooling time)

Ingredients:

  • 7 eggs

Method:

  1. Bring a pot of water to the boil (enough water to thoroughly cover the eggs).
  2. Bring the temperature down slightly so the boiling is not so vigorous.
  3. Very gently place the eggs into the pot with a large spoon.
  4. Set the timer for 9 minutes and leave the eggs to gently boil.
  5. Once the timer beeps, place the pot under a tap of cold water until all of the water in the pot is cold.
  6. Leave the eggs to cool in the cold water for about 10 minutes before placing them in the fridge.
  7. I leave the shell of my hard-boiled eggs until right before eating them, as I find it easier to store them with shell on.
