The woman was a 19 year old hotel employee. The woman went into Kobe's hotel room where they had sex. Later on, the woman accused him of raping her. When police questioned Bryant at first, he lied about even having sex with her because he was married. His cheating cost him having to submit to a rape test kit and a voluntary lie detector test. After being formally charged by the state of Colorado, Kobe finally admitted to his wife that he cheated on her with the woman. Not all affairs are glitz and glamor, just like with the Kobe case for example. He had to pay out large sums of money to the woman in order to avoid prosecution for something he may not have even done.
He lost endorsements at that time, almost lost his family, and lost money. It took a major situation like this one for him to own up to his cheating behavior. Had the woman not accused him of rape, his wife would have never known about the affair.
