- 5. IMMUNE SYSTEM -

The chamomile plant also contains phenolic compounds.

Scientific studies claim these specific compounds promote a healthy immune system.

The chamazulene in chamomile encourages your gut to respond to foreign pathogens and mount a full immune response. This means you’ll be better at fighting off a cold, the flu, or other diseases. Additionally, chamazulene has antibacterial properties that help fight any infections. If you do get an illness, you will likely show fewer symptoms and it will pass quicker than previous illnesses.

Studies performed on people who drink chamomile tea regularly have regularly shown higher general levels of both hippurate and glycine.

Both compounds have antiviral, antifungal, and antibacterial properties.

These can prevent the spread of a virus and bad bacteria in the gut, which can cause diseases and infections.

Some studies have also shown that chamomile inhibits the production of nitric oxide. Nitric oxide helps promote the spread of inflammatory diseases. By blocking its production, chamomile can help fight everything from a sore through to PMS pain to cancer.
