- DOES CHAMOMILE HAVE ANY SIDE EFFECTS? -

Most medicines prescribed today can incur detrimental side effects.

These could range from headaches to nausea and vomiting, possibly worse.

These side effects however come from synthetically made medications that dramatically impact your body in a short space of time.

Because chamomile is naturally-occurring, and it doesn’t include any synthetically made compounds, there are very few, if any, undesirable side effects.

Of course, the downside is chamomile won’t work as fast as a pharmacy bought painkiller, but it will work for much longer if consumed regularly.

One of the only warnings that should be taken into consideration when adding chamomile to your diet is to take into consideration any existing allergies to flowers or plants in the same Asteraceae family as they may be triggered.

If you do have an allergy or sensitivity of this nature, check with your doctor first before consuming.

If not, chamomile is one of the safest plants to add to your diet.

If you take chamomile in excess, you do risk the possibility of vomiting.

However, this is not long term and only occurs after drinking a strong chamomile brew at least ten times a day, every day.

Chamomile is very gentle and should not cause vomiting if consumed normally.

If vomiting does occur you may have an allergy and of course it would be best to seek out medical and naturopathic advice.

While there is no direct advice to avoid chamomile if you are pregnant, some doctors recommend avoiding chamomile in your first and last trimester.

This is because of the effect chamomile can have on your menstrual cycle, hormones, and muscles.

Although any complications are highly unlikely, it’s a good idea to tell your doctor and factor in his or her advice.
