Flame
Fight as I might to resist it
Winter descends upon my world
Thus at my attempt to live life
A looming depression is hurled
As my resources to resist
Are beaten down by darkened night
Gray skies infect the afternoons
I continue seeking a light
On bleak long days I search for flame
Crackles of fireplace warm my heart
A candle’s glow will light my way
From warmth and light depression parts
Glad that a flame has chased away
Darkness from deep within my soul
Life once again is shining bright
Leaving me forever grateful
