A Life Spent

Fear dominates my life

In a multitude of ways

Can others read my thoughts

or know how I feel toward them?

I try to fill my life with kindness

But sometimes it’s only pretend

Those who are loud, self-centered,

Vulgar and rude are just not for me

I strive to minimize drama

In my nice and peaceful life

Some seem to thrive on gossip

From which I try to escape

Who am I to judge the way others live?

Or for them to judge me?

I prefer to remain in my life of

Writing, serenity and quietude
