Autumn’s Progression

As sun setting on summer’s procession

Requesting strength, clarity, direction

While autumn creeps insidiously near

It drags along with it prophetic fear

Slowly solar rays are meeting demise

While their presence replaced with darkened skies

They're surrounded with murkiness and gloom

Eradicating multi-colored bloom

Heart broken, bleeding pulse slowly ceases

Solid concrete clogs cognitive creases

Tightly clinging to maintain existence

Shadows will render absent resistance

As flame flickers threatening wax and wick

Extinction a result of fog too thick

An hour diminished for many moons

Dread multiple months minus songbird tunes

Ultimately restored when bulbs unfold

Rocky course will emerge from night of cold
