CHAPTER 11 - King Motu's Court

The Prime Minister rode his horse hard all the way to the court of King Motu.  He reported all that had happened.

King Motu praised him for temporarily stopping the attack.

King Motu looked at his Military men for their views on the situation. Nope, they would not be able to help much against a big giant like Totu who threw huge boulders as though they were tiny pebbles. Besides, unlike the Prime Minister, the troops would not be carrying a white handkerchief and thus will not be protected. The troops would be crushed by raining boulders even before they got anywhere near the giant at the border.

King Motu was running out of ideas. He turned to the common people in his court for suggestions.  Anything! Otherwise he, King Motu the Magnificent, would immediately go and surrender himself to the giant to save more death and destruction of his subjects.

There was stunned silence in the court. There seemed to be no way out. Nobody knew how to save the King and defeat the giant.  They told each other that it was noble of King Motu the Magnificent to sacrifice himself for their sakes. The idea of losing their king overwhelmed them and they all began to cry silently.

The King waited for suggestions from the people in the court but from their faces he already knew the answer.

The King got up: "Well that seems to be that then.  I am prepared to sacrifice my own life if it means my people can be saved in some way.  But I know enough about King Chhotu the Cheater to know that he will not leave my people in peace.  However, as your king, I must do all that I can to avoid this present disaster. I shall immediately go to the giant and ..."

"Please King Motu the Magnificent, I have an idea which just may work Your Majesty!"

It was a man's voice from the back of the hall.
