Perception

Another important component. If people perceive you in a negative way, they will not buy from you. A person's perception is their reality. Don't skip over that. Your perception is the reality you live in. That was my primary reason for warning you about becoming a review or testimonial prostitute. If you do, you run the risk of giving others a negative perception of you. That makes you harder to trust. A vicious downward cycle, is it not? Let's think of it this way, the more chances you give others to perceive you negatively, the more they will. I can not think of anything good that will come of that.

The lesson? Always be aware of how what you say or do might be perceived by others and take it into account. You don't want to spend time in damage control mode over something you could have easily prevented by simply not doing or saying it. Yes, we all have an ego, and what I'm suggesting is much easier said that done. But we simply must try to be better at avoiding conflicts with others. Those conflicts are almost never worth the pain they cause.
