Chapter 6. Enemies in the dark

You have heard about the strength of the mightiest animals in the world. The eagle is the ruler of all in the Sky. The Lion is the King of all the beasts in the day. However, this is the condition of the day. In the night, everything changes. I learned all that I had been taught about government was incorrect when I realized there is no such a thing as a patriarch or a matriarch in the animal kingdom. Patriarchs and Matriarchs are purely human ideals that steam from democracy. In other governments, the reality is different. Although the lions rule the grounds in the day, the Hyenas rule the grounds in the night. They have the utmost advantage over all since they are nocturnal animals. Sometimes they scavenge, sometimes they opt for the kill. They live in the deepest dark of the night. They can see everything with very little light and that is not much for lions. They survive in the layer of darkness where there are dreams and nightmares.

Their ally is not the light but the darkness, where feelings and knowledge are betrayed because much like any other creature, their objective is to survive and live in accordance with the land.

They feed their young where they have the advantage.

Much like the Hyenas, the bats are also rulers of the night. What makes them unique is their ability to take over the skies. The objective of all animals is to survive and extend their lineage where they have the most opportunity. Bats, although mammals, have advantage in the day where the eagles rule the skies and feed their young premium food from their hunts. Bats prefer to capture their prey in the deepest darkness, where no noise is heard, the kill is not visible and the tales of their growth and expansion are not told. Bats have unique capabilities such as maneuvering well in the air to capture fresh prey. They emerge dim and late when the sun stoops in the sky, the color of the skies change and the prey of the day is unable to tell the difference between light and dark.
