(119) Works of Love III A
God is the Middle Term and When I See My Love
When I see my love with God as the middle term
She's all the more beautiful and radiant
We are released from all life's concerns
When what's sacred is what's salient
In our love of God we find our union
More surely than worldly pledges
So our love is always communion
Not the aesthetic as the poet alleges
When God serves as the middle term
It becomes like our love's crucible
It's through our love of God we learn
More of love as the divine principle
Divine vision is all encompassing
And in that seeing knows acceptance
For us that means always discovering
The truth of love's persistence
Our love of God is not at variance
The essence of all life's stability
It is the truth of all existence
That's a passion that brings tranquility
As I see my love with divine complexity
I know her beyond immediate behaviors
So I can escape my petty perplexity
Take divine love as our savior
Our salvation is divinely wrought
Then we must take our part
The middle term we have successfully sought
The other terms are in our heart
