(218-219)  Works Of Love

Part Two II

Love Believes All Things

Our Fear Of Error

When we are constantly mistrustful

We might feel best pleased

But it's a choice that is most fateful

By ourselves we are deceived

Perhaps we fear to be in error

So in mistrust we need hide

In that way, we are wrong forever

Mistrust is where our fear resides

We can fear to be deceived

Because we feel it's stupid

But what might we have achieved

When we reject the good and lucid?

For love the loss of good is insupportable

So love believes all things

To achieve what's false for love's impossible

Love's beliefs are brave and daring

Do we dare then to believe

In love itself as true?

It's us who make our joy and grief

In mistrust isolation will ensue

Mistrust is an essential rejection

Of all else out of hand

Love is our best protection

Where deceit's not in command

When in love we choose to act

In the depth of our intention

We cannot be deceived in fact

When love's purpose is not in question
