(220-221) Works Of Love
Part Two II
Mistrust And Evil
Our human vision is limited
In the scope of its dimensions
Mistrust makes it more primitive
With its doubts of life's intentions
We can choose our own perspectives
Thus escape a world of shadows
Make sure we are reflective
To see all that love allows
Those of us who believe in nothing
Are prone to believe in evil
To fill our emptiness with something
And to keep our deep fear still
When we choose no good to see
Then all of us see all's bad
This breeds contempt for you and me
Such prevailing evil can drive us mad
We are surrounded by innocence
Even by human nobility
When these things we see as nonsense
We abandon our faith's humility
To see beyond the pasteboard masks
And find the beauty therein contained
Love believes in all to fulfill this task
Mistrust denies all and then complains
When we complain of what we choose
Mistrust is self-reflective
Love believes all so it cannot lose
Life's truth in the divine perspective
