TOMBSTONE TERRITORY

Tombstone territory

Where yesterday’s ghosts roam.

Each one has a story,

An epitaph or poem.

There’s gravestones all around.

I don’t know where to turn.

Past loves dead and buried

But memories still burn.

The darkness gathers in

And strangleholds my heart

My eyes grow sore and sting

I feel the teardrops start.

There a cold chill in the air

Iced with love’s lost heat

Tombstone territory

Where ghostly specters meet.

The teardrops and the glory

That never find a home.

Tombstone territory

Where hearts are cold as stone.

I turn my collar to the wind

And say a silent prayer

That I may find your heart again

Sometime, someplace, somewhere.

Tombstone territory

Where yesterday’s ghosts roam.

Each one has a story,

An epitaph or poem.
