IF ONLY

If only God would spare my misery,

I’d be in a better place.

If only God would shower me with adoration,

I could walk in glorious delight.

If only God would give me all that I ask,

I would not have to experience suffering or wrath.

If only God worked the way I deem fit,

My life would play out, my days perfectly spent.

My Lord, I cry out

You shoulder my burdens

You carry my load.

You bring me low

So my spirit can grieve

You bring me low, upon my knees.

I’m a spoiled one,

Who is never satisfied!

I think I know what’s best

But His spirit will not hide.

He has a greater victory.
