to my best friends -

i wonder,

while i wait in the

whataburger drive-thru,

your music playing

in my ears, your hair

up in a messy bun,

our chests braless and our

veins hyped up on caffeine,

why girls search for

reassurance in men.

should we not love

being around someone who

will push you through

target in a shopping cart,

stay up until three

doing makeup and

trying on ugly outfits,

dance with you when

no one else will,

never judge you for

what you feel confident in,

warn you when something

just doesn’t look right,

hold your hair back when you

didn’t know the punch was spiked,

spend hours taking instagram photos,

and never once stop laughing or

making you a better

version of yourself?

should we not just be

content with what we

spend every day with,

instead of always

searching for more?

my goal in life is

never to be “pretty.”

my goal is to wake up

every morning, look in the

mirror, and smile, because i’m

happy to be myself.
